Lloyd Cole-Felt
>Can't see the Cole/Felt interface.
But Ben - they wore the same hat! I think it was actually that comparison
that first got me interested in Felt (either in Record Mirror or Smash Hits,
as this was before I 'graduated' to the inkies - and was that your mug above
'Your Shout' this week?).
Certainly, there was a loose link in sound/style between 'Rattlesnakes' and
their early Creation/post-Deebank material, and a similar aesthetic at work,
but after getting into Felt I had the feeling that Lloyd was very much the
6th form poet - all kudos by association, name-dropping your reference
points, rather than using them as bench-marks. And then he went into that
really embarassing black leather jackey whisky drinking 'playing pool with
the boys' period that was really unconvincing. (He says having hung the
black leather jacket up in the cupboard and finishing a double of quality
bourboun).
