Reading Greil Marcus is like rock climbing, there are times that it is not exactly fun but boy does it feel good when you finish "Lipstick Traces"!!! I can swear that there are words that he made up in the book. And I for one do not think that the two most importent punk bands were Kleenex and The Mekons but that is just a point of view. As for Lester Bangs, he is always fun to read and there is one section in "Psychotic Reactions and Carburetor Dung" that totally describes the pleasure of putting on a new record for the first time. Lastly, Gerard Cosloy's "Conflict" zine was just like Gerard...curmudgeony... Matthew Kaplan
